Forward Acosta commits to UMass, Amherst

Tallied 13 points in 20 games for Herd last season

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Sioux Falls Stampede forward Khristian Acosta announced Wednesday on Twitter his commitment to play collegiate hockey at the University of Massachusetts, Amhest.

The 5-foot-9-inch, speedy playmaker made an immediate impact after being called up from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights in February, scoring 13 points (1 G, 12 A) in 20 games. In his lone season with Wilkes-Barre, Acosta scored 35 points (12 G, 23 A) in 34 games. 

The University of Massachusetts, Amherst is located in Amherst, Massachusetts. The hockey program is members of the East Hockey conference. The team finished the 2016–17 campaign 5–29–2.

The Port Monmouth, New Jersey native will return to Sioux Falls for the 2017–18 season prior to joining the Minutemen in the fall 2018.
