Team looking to remain perfect in preseason play

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Sioux Falls Stampede host the Fargo Force at the SCHEELS IcePlex in third of four preseason games leading up to the start of the 2019-20 season. The scheduled puck drop is 7 p.m. and $10 to spectators at the door or free to season ticket holders.

The Stampede are coming off back-to-back victories at the I-80 Showcase at Ralston Arena in Omaha, Neb. over the Des Moines Buccaneers and Lincoln Stars last weekend. The Herd defeated the Buccaneers in a come-from-behind 5-4 shootout victory. The scoring was led by veteran forward Ryan Sullivan and forward Garrett Pinoniemi (PEE-no-knee-me). Goaltenders Kyle McClellan and Nathan Reid played for the team in net.

The following evening Sioux Falls got off to another 1-0 lead for the second night in row only to find themselves tied 1-1 heading into the final period. After a strong defensive effort from both teams, Sullivan again broke through to give the Herd a lead with four minutes remaining in regulation. Forward Austin Heidemann tallied an empty-net goal for Sioux Falls for the victory. Grant Adams and Nathan Reid played for the team in net.

This will be the Fargo Force’s first preseason game. The Force were knocked out of the playoffs last season by the Des Moines Buccaneers in the first round of the 2019 Clark Cup Playoffs.

The Stampede will finish preseason play tomorrow night in Sioux Center, Iowa against the Sioux City Muskeeteers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Vernon Arena.
