The Breakdown

The Sioux Falls Stampede begin defending their Clark Cup Championship on home ice, where the team finished a perfect 7-0 during the 2019 Clark Cup Playoffs. Sioux Falls will be taking on the Lincoln Stars who finished the 2019 season in the last place in the Western Conference.

For the Herd

The Herd is coming off a 1-1-0 finish at the Fall Classic. The Stampede defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers, 6-3, before falling to the Chicago Steel 4-2 in a 2019 Clark Cup Final rematch.

Forward Tyler Coffey, acquired in a trade with Tri-City a week before the season started, leads the way for the Stampede with a goal and two assists in two games on the young season. Rookie forward Jakub Lewandowski scored two goals over the weekend for the Herd, while goaltender made 47 saves in defeating Des Moines.

The Herd will follow up tonight’s stand-alone home game with four consecutive road contests before returning home for back-to-back games at home on October 25 and 26.

For the Foe

The Lincoln Stars revamped squad will look to improve on their 1-1-0 start to the new season last weekend at the Fall Classic, defeating Muskegon Lumberjacks, 4-2, and losing to Fargo Force in a 3-0 shutout.

The Stars are led by four players with four points, including forwards Josh Groll, Josh Lopina, Travis Treloar and Matthew Miller. Last weekend Lincoln goaltenders Jacob Mucitelli and Ryan McInchak split time in goal, with the later earning the victory for his club.

For the Fans

The Stampede will be hosting a tailgate prior to puck drop at the Birdcage between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Fans will be able to enjoy yard games, inflatables and a hockey shootout. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Clark Cup Championship commemorative puck, compliments of Dental Solutions.

Fans are encouraged to bring their skates to take part in our first postgame skate of the season. No skate rentals are available.
