The Breakdown

The Sioux Falls Stampede (4-11-2) are back at the PREMIER Center tonight to take on the Sioux City Musketeers (7-8-3). This is the first meeting at home between the two teams, second this season, of eight total matchups. The Herd is coming off a 7-1 victory over the Fargo Force, while the Musketeers were defeated Wednesday night at home against Lincoln, 6-4. Sioux Falls is in eighth place with 10 points in the Western Conference and Sioux City is in seventh with 17 points.

For the Herd

The Herd are coming off a 7-1 victory over the Fargo Force Wednesday night at the PREMIER Center. Team captain Ryan Sullivan got the scoring under way early with a goal assisted by Jared Westcott just 30 seconds into the opening period. Cameron MacDonald followed up with his second career goal seven minutes later to take an early 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Fargo Force forward Joseph Dunlap cut the lead in half 7:14 gone in the second, but exactly three minutes later Gabe Temple scored off a ricocheted shot from Brandon Chabrier to give the Herd a 3-1 lead. MacDonald scored his second goal of the night another three minutes after that and the onslaught continued from there. Brenden Olson, Sullivan and Austin Heidemann all scored in the third to finish the game. Jaxson Stauber made the start in net, stopping 21 of 22 starts.

Brian Carrabes continues to lead the Stampede in points this season with 14 total from eight goals and six assists in 16 games played. Forward Tyler Coffey trails him with 11 total points from six goals and five assists. Between the pipes Grant Adams leads the team with a 2-7-2 record in 12 games played with a 3.56 goals-against average and .892 save-percentage.

The Stampede will continue the holiday homestand with a matchup against the Dubuque Fighting Saints tomorrow night for Teddy Bear Toss night presented by BiteSquad.

For the Foe

The Sioux City Musketeers are coming off a 6-4 loss Wednesday night at the Tyson Events Center against the Lincoln Stars. Josh Groll got the scoring underway for the visiting club six minutes into the opening period and Sioux City answered back 1:20 later to tie the game.

Lincoln took a 3-1 lead with goals from Brad Morrissey and Brock Bremer before leading-scorer Sam Stange brought Sioux City back within one to end the period.

The two teams exchanged goals in the second, one from Morrissey and Sioux City forward Ian Malcolmson. Sam Antenucci scored at the 4:12 mark of the third in a comeback attempt for the Musketeers, but two Lincoln goals from Josh Groll and Christian Sarlo sealed their 6-4 fate.

The Musketeers are led by forward Sam Stange who has 14 points in 18 games played from nine goals and five assists. Alternate captain Dominic Vidolic also has 14 points in 13 games played from three goals and 11 assists. The team is led in net by Ethan Haider who has a 7-6-3 record, 3.01 goals-against average and .894 save-percentage.

Sioux City will travel to Des Moines next weekend for back-to-back games at Buccaneer Arena.
