The Sioux Falls Stampede (0-2-0) are looking for their first win of the season against the undefeated Omaha Lancers (1-0-0). The Lancers are making their first road trip of the season, while the Herd are hosting their second home game. The contest will be the first of a back-to-back weekend in Sioux Falls as the two teams rematch tomorrow night.
For the Herd
The Herd is looking for their first win of the new season as the dropped back-to-back matchups against the Fargo Force by a combined 10-3 goal differential. A rescheduled season opener in Fargo saw the Stampede put three on netminder Andrew Miller of the Force. Jack Smith, Adam Flammang and Garrett Pinoniemi all tallied goalies for the Herd, while forward Sam Rhodes notched two assists in the contest.
Goaltender Noah Grannan made the start in net that evening and was unable to rebound allowing five goals in net both games. Grannan holds a 5.11 GAA and .846 SVP to start the season.
The Herd has four games over the next eight days, playing host to the Omaha Lancers again tomorrow night, Des Moines Buccaneers on Wednesday and Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday, November 28. Sandwiched between is a Friday night matchup at Fargo Force.
For the Foe
The Omaha Lancers, after a few postponed games to start the season, were able to squeeze in a lone matchup at home against the Tri-City Storm back on Nov. 13. The Lancers throttled the Storm 5-1, scoring four unanswered goals in the first two periods.
Five different Lancers were able to grab a goal on between goaltender Grant Riley and Todd Scott. Former Sioux City Musketeer turned Lancer earned first star accolades with one goal and two assists on the night. Veteran goaltender Jakub Dobes earned the win between the pipes, stopping 24 of 25 shots faced. Dobes finished the 2019-20 season 9-6-3 in net as a backup to standout Kyle McClellan.
The Lancers will leave Sioux Falls hopeful to get a game in against the Musketeers on Nov. 25 after their Nov. 22 contest was postponed. The Lancers will host the Buccaneers on Nov. 28 and the Musketeers on Nov. 29.
