The Breakdown

The Sioux Falls Stampede (8-12-1) rematch with the Omaha Lancers (13-8-0) for the second of back-to-back games at Ralston Arena. The Lancers lead the season series 2-1, with a two-game split back in November. Sioux Falls won the first contest 4-2 and dropped the second 6-3. The teams

For the Herd

The Sioux Falls Stampede came up short last night in a 2-1 defeat to the Lancers. Brent Johnson tallied his sixth goal of the season on an expiring power play 39 seconds into the third period for the lone goal for the away squad. Cole Sillinger provided the assist on the play for his third point in three games. Goaltender Christian Stoever made his Stampede debut, stopping 22 of 23 shots on net.

Michael Citara continues to lead the team in points with 20 points from nine goals and 11 assists over 19 games played. Goaltender Noah Grannan leads the goaltenders with a 6-6-0 record over 12 games played with a 3.30 GAA and .892 SV%.


For the Foe

Despite outshooting the Lancers in the first period 11 to four in the first period, the Stampede, for the fourth-straight contest, allowed a goal within the first two minutes of the second period. Ryan Lautenbach tallied his eighth goal of the season just 1:35 into the second period. Ayrton Martino and Kyle Bettens provided the assists to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

 

Ten minutes later Michael Posma just squeaked a puck through the pads of Stampede goaltender Christian Stoever to take a 2-0 advantage into the second intermission. The Lancers showed their period dominance by outshooting the Herd 11 to four.

The Lancers are led by forward Ryan Lautenbach who has eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points through 20 games played this season. While veteran goaltender Jakub Dobes has made 18 starts with an 12-7-0 record, 1.89 GAA and .926 SV%.

The Lancers are 6-4-0 in their last 10 games and on a four-game winning streak.
