The Sioux Falls Stampede (16-19-3) face off against the Des Moines Buccaneers (20-13-4) in the second of a back-to-back set at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The season series stands at 3-2-0 in favor of the Stampede. The Buccaneers defeated the Herd 5-1 last night and extended the Stampede’s losing streak to four games.
For the Herd
Des Moines Buccaneers forward Zach Urdahl collected the opening goal of the homestand at 10:42 in the first period. Alex Laferriere and Zakary Karpa assisted on the power play.
Cole Sillinger tallied his sixteenth goal of the season for his seventh straight game with a point at 9:29 of the second period. Luke Toporowski dropped a pass to Sillinger in stride and beat Derek Mullahy glove side as the power play expired. Paul Davey gave the Buccaneers the 2-1 lead back with a goal at the end of the second period.
The Buccaneers finished off the game with three straight goals in the third period. Laferriere, Tiernan Shoudy and Davis Burnside all scored to seal the 5-1 victory.
Garrett Pinoniemi leads the team in points with 7 goals and 23 assists for 31 points. Burnham leads the goaltenders with a 7-8-2 record, 3.28 GAA and .897 SV%.
