SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sioux Falls Stampede battled through a 2-1 deficit in the third period to score three in a 4-2 win over the Fargo Force at the PREMIER Center Saturday night. Four different players scored for the home side, while Trent Burnham put together a strong performance in net, stopping 28 of 30 shots in net.
Looking to break a four-game losing streak, the Stampede allowed the opening goal of the game at 7:46 of the first period. Reid Pabich came roaring back with his ninth of the season, assisted by Luke Toporowski, to even the game at one after one.
Force forward Jeremy Davidson took the lead back 1:08 into the second period for the only goal through 20 minutes of play.
The Herd dominated the final period of play, scoring three goals with the first two coming in the first three minutes. Tyler Haskins scored off an assist from Daniel Russell :32 seconds into the period. Ean Somoza tallied his first career United States Hockey League goal at 3:04 of the period. Pabich dropped a pass to Somoza in slot who was able to beat top goaltender Brennan Boynton. Russell tallied an empty net goal with 41 seconds remaining in the game to seal the 4-2 victory.
The Stampede will return to the PREMIER Center next Friday and Saturday night to take on the Tri-City Storm, with a 7:05 p.m. puck drop both nights.
