Stampede players named to BioSteel All-American Game

Three Sioux Falls Stampede players have been named to the 2022 BioSteel All-American Game on January 17th, the United States Hockey League (USHL) and USA Hockey have announced. Forwards Maddox Fleming and Sam Harris along with defenseman Ryan Healey will represent the Stampede at the event. In addition, former Stampede forward Tyler Haskins will also participate. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 PM (CST) on January 17th from USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. and the game will air live on NHL Network.

For the first time in the event's three-year history, this season's rosters will be a combination of the best 2022 NHL Draft eligible players in the USHL along with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) Under-18 Team. The NTDP is one of the 16 USHL Member Clubs and will split its roster with the top USHL players for this year's event.  Harris will play for Team White while Fleming and Healey will skate for Team Blue in the game.

Fleming has skated in eight games this season with the Stampede, tallying one goal and four assists. Prior to joining the Herd, he skated with the U.S. National Team Development Program where he had three points in five games against USHL opponents. Last season, Fleming posted 14 points (6g,8a) in 27 games with Team USA. The Rochester, Min. native has been listed as a C-Rated player by NHL Central Scouting and has already committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Notre Dame.

Harris is in his first season with the Stampede and has posted 10 points (3g, 7a) in 22 games this season. The San Diego, Calif. native spent last season with Shattuck St. Mary’s 18U Prep team where he recorded 37 points (21g, 16a) in 36 games. Harris was a second-round draft choice of the Stampede during the 2022 USHL Phase II Draft and was also a C-Rated player by NHL Central Scouting. He recently signed his letter of intent with the University of Denver.

Healey is a B-Rated player by NHL Central Scouting and in his first full season with the Stampede. He appeared in seven games with the Stampede last season and has skated in 20 games so far in 2021-22, registering four assists. A native of Hull, Mass., Healy spent the 2019-20 season with the Boston Advantage 16U AAA club where he tallied 13 points (5g, 8a) in 16 games. He has already committed to play college hockey at Harvard in the fall of 2023.

In the past two events, 53 players who appeared in the game went on to be Drafted the following summer including 26 players in 2020 and 27 in 2021. Of the 50 players, seven were selected in the First Round including Matthew Beniers (Seattle Kraken, 2021, #2), Jake Sanderson (2020, Ottawa Senators, #5 Overall), Cole Sillinger (2021, Columbus Blue Jackets, #12 Overall), Matt Coronato (2021, Calgary Flames, #13 Overall), Chaz Lucius (2021, Winnipeg Jets, #18 Overall), Mackie Samoskevich (2021, Florida Panthers, #24 Overall) and Brendan Brisson (2020, Vegas Golden Knights, #29 Overall).

The Stampede return to action Tuesday night when they host the Omaha Lancers at 7:05 PM inside the PREMIER Center. Tickets are on sale now through the KELOLAND Box Office or any Ticketmaster location. The Herd are also home on Saturday, January 1st when they host the Fargo Force at 6:05 PM.
