Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede announced on Tuesday that they have acquired defenseman Michael Quinn and a 5th round selection in the 2022 Phase 2 USHL Draft from the Madison Capitols in exchange for defenseman Brandon Chabrier. The trade was completed prior to the USHL trade deadline Monday night.
Quinn is in his first season in the USHL and tallied 12 points (3g, 9a) in 37 games with the Capitols. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed shot spent the previous two seasons at Shattuck St. Mary’s U18 Prep team. In 82 career games, Quinn tallied 67 points on nine goals and 58 assists. The St. Louis, MO, Quinn is expected to return for the 2022-23 season for the Herd.
“We are excited to have Michael join the Stampede,” stated Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Marty Murray. “This was an opportunity for us to not only help the team this year, but address future needs as well. Michael can return next season and we are able to obtain a draft choice for the 2022-23 season. We want to thank Brandon Chabrier for all his contributions to the club over the last few seasons and wish him nothing but the best for the rest of this season and next fall when he enrolls at Maine.”
Chabrier appeared in 119 career games for the Stampede over parts of the last three seasons and tallied seven goals and 20 assists. He is committed to the University of Maine where he will play this fall after his USHL career comes to an end.
Quinn is expected to join the Stampede in time for this weekend’s road swing to Fargo and Omaha. The Herd return to action this Thursday when they visit Fargo to face the Force at 7:05 PM and then travel down I-29 to Omaha on Friday for a 7:05 PM puck drop against the Lancers.
