Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede snapped their five-game winless streak Friday night at the PREMIER Center, blanking the Des Moines Buccaneers 3-0. Isak Posch stood solid between the pipes, stopping all 20 shots on net, while Austen May had a goal and an assist for the Herd.
After a scoreless first that saw the Buccaneers outshoot the Herd 6-4, Austen May opened up scoring for the Stampede at 9:08 in the second period when he fired a shot from the high slot that found its way through traffic and to the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season. Sioux Falls outshot Des Moines 6-5 in the period.
Sam Harris added to the Stampede’s lead at 13:01 into the third period when he knocked in a pass from Maddox Fleming across the slot for his tenth of the year and a power play goal. Sioux Falls kept Des Moines off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game, with Michael LaStarza potting the empty-net goal for the Herd to make it 3-0 at 18:21.
Sioux Falls outshot Des Moines 10-9 in the final period, with both teams totaling 20 shots each in the game. The Stampede went 1-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The win brings the Herd within one point of the 7th place Buccaneers in the Western Conference, their record now 14-25-6.
