Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede were not able to complete the comeback and ultimately fell 3-1 to the Fargo Force Sunday afternoon at the PREMIER Center. They finish their weekend series against Fargo 1-2. Michael Quinn had the lone goal for the Stampede, his first as a member of the Herd, while netminder Isak Posch stopped 26 of 29 shots between the pipes.
The Stampede have gone the last six games tallying the first goal of the night, but Fargo would break that streak at 1:12 in the first period when Jakob Stender opened up scoring with his second goal of the year. The Herd were outshot by the Force 16-5 in the period.
JP Turner would add to Fargo’s lead, making it a 2-0 game at 7:41 in the second period for his tenth goal of the season. Michael Quinn would answer back shortly after, scoring his first goal as a member of the Herd and fourth of the year at 9:57, taking a shot from the high slot through traffic. Sioux Falls outshot Fargo 12-6 in the period.
Fargo would take a two-goal lead once more at 1:19 in the third period when German Yavash stuffed a loose puck past Posch in the crease, his ninth goal on the year. The Stampede were unable to come back from the 3-1 deficit.
The Stampede outshot the Force 9-7 in the third period, but were outshot 29-26 in the game.
Sioux Falls went 0-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
