Team Blue topped Team White, 4-2 Sunday afternoon in the "Young Guns" game at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. The teams played two, 25-minute (running clock) halves.
Zach Hartley (Colorado Rampage U18) got Team Blue on the board early in the first on a nice wrist shot from the slot to make it a 1-0 game. It stayed that way until the final 90 seconds when Parker Tuomi (DEG Metro Stars) scored to give Blue a 2-0 edge. Corey Hoffman (Long Island Gulls U16) made a nice pass from behind the net to the high slot where Tuomi blasted the puck into the back of the net and Blue took their 2-0 lead into the locker room.
Team White got on the board three minutes into the second half when Jake O'Borsky (Benilde) found the back of the net. Team Blue responded with a goal from Michael Sabatini a few minutes later to make it 3-1. Dakota Joshua (Det. Honeybaked U16) made it a 4-1 game when he picked up a loose rebound in front of the net and and put it away. Team White inched closer with 6:13 remaining when Jake Ahlgren (Fergus Falls HS) skated through the slot and wristed a shot into the back of the net to make it 4-2, but that was as close as Team White would come.
Nicoals Deery (New Hampshire Monarchs) did not allow a goal for Team Blue during the first half while Jason Pawloski (Omaha Jr. Lancers) allowed two goals in the second half. Chase Perry (Andover HS) started in goal for Team White and allowed two goals while Stefanos Lekkas (Chicago Mission) allowed two goals in the second half.
