WHEN: Tonight (Saturday) 7:05 PM
WHERE: Ralston Arena
VIDEO: Fasthockey:
The Stampede look to extend their three-game winning streak as they travel down I-29 to face the Lancers in a building that has not been too friendly to them yet this season. The Herd are 0-3-0 at the new Ralston Arena where they have been outscored 13-6. The Herd's last outing though in that building was close as the Herd fell 3-2 on February 13th. The home team has won all five games of this season series thus far and this will be the final time during the regular season the Herd play at Ralston.
The Herd are coming off a huge 6-3 victory Friday night in Fargo. The win moved the Stampede five points ahead of Fargo for first place in the West. Sam Rothstein scored twice while Charlie Lindgren earned his league leading 24th win of the season in goal. Tied 2-2 heading into the third, the Stampede scored four times in the third to earn the win.
Since topping the Stampede last Wednesday, the Lancers have lost three straight games. Last night, the Lancers fell 3-1 at home to Sioux City. Omaha led 1-0 in the first period, but the Musketeers scored in each of the three periods to rally and defeat the Lancers, 3-1. Dominic Racobaldo tallied the only goal of the game for the Lancers who fell back into fourth place in the West and hold a one point lead over Lincoln for the final playoff spot in the conference. They trail the Stampede by 10 points for first.
After tonight, these two teams will meet again in Sioux Falls on March 29th and in the last game of the regular season on April 13th.
