Herd face Gamblers for second straight game

The Stampede are coming off a 4-1 victory over the Gamblers on Sunday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. Thomas Forgione tallied two goals while Sam Rothstein added a goal and an assist in the win. Charlie Lindgren made 28 saves to earn his league leading 25th win of the season. His 25 wins are most for Stampede goaltender since Kellen Briggs during the 2001-02 and he needs just six wins to tie a franchise record for wins in a season (31) set by David Bowen during the inaugural season 1999-2000.

The Herd enter tonight in first place in the Western Conference with a 33-13-2 record and have won four of their last five games overall. After tonight, Sioux Falls will travel to Dubuque in a battle for the Anderson Cup.

Some quick notes on tonight’s game:

·         The Herd allowed their first powerplay goal in five games on Sunday against the Gamblers and now rank fourth in the league at 84.2%.

·          The Gamblers enter with the second best powerplay in the USHL at 26.3%.

·         Sioux Falls is 8-2-0 against Eastern Conference teams this season.

·         The Stampede are 4-1-1 in their last six games in Green Bay, dating back to 2008-09 season.

·         Sioux Falls is 24-0-1 when leading after two periods this season.

·         Including tonight, the Herd will play 8 of their next 10 games on the road before closing out the regular season by playing 5 of their last 6 games at home.

·         The Gamblers are the second highest scoring offensive team in the league, averaging 3.87 goals per-game. The Herd rank fourth in goals against, allowing on average 2.96 goals per-game.

·         Green Bay is tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals with 10 so far this year.

·         Kyle Novak ranks third amongst USHL players in scoring with 61 points. His 36 assists are also third most in the USHL.

·         The Gamblers have used five goaltenders this season, but Tony Kujava is 5-2-0 with a 2.79 GAA and a .910 save percentage. Richard Ulberg is 6-2-0 with a 2.50 GAA and a .918 save percentage.
