Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede announced Thursday that they have acquired forward Cooper Marody (meh-roe-dee) and a 10th round pick in the 2015 USHL Phase II Draft from the Muskegon Lumberjacks in exchange for forward Will Graber and a fourth round pick in the 2015 USHL Phase II Draft.
Marody is a Brighton, MI native and was in his second season with the Lumberjacks. In 14 games this season, Marody tallied 9 points (2g, 7a) and four penalty minutes. Last season, he appeared in 58 of 60 games with the Jacks, registering 30 points (9g, 21a) and 36 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 177-pound centerman has already committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Michigan. He made the NHL Central Scouting preliminary list for players to watch for the upcoming 2015 NHL Draft. He was listed as "B" player, meaning he is a 2nd or 3rd round candidate at this point in the season.
Graber had tallied 10 points (4g, 6a) in 20 games so far this season with the Herd. The Longmont, CO native appeared in 19 games with the Stampede last season while spending the majority of the year playing for Brookings in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
The Stampede return to action tomorrow (Friday) when they travel to Ralston Arena to face the Omaha Lancers at 7:35 PM. Fans can catch the games live on KELO News Talk 1320-AM, 107.9-FM and online at kelo.com.
