Stampede close out regular season at Fargo tonight

Herd have already taken season series with Force

TONIGHT’S GAME:   The Stampede close out the 2017-18 regular season as they travel up I-29 to face the Fargo Force for the tenth and final time this year. The Herd hold a 7-2-0 record against the Force. Tonight’s game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed due to the bizzard.

The Force have already clinched the number three seed in the playoffs while the Stampede have secured the number four seed.  Fargo has won 10 of their last 11 games coming while the Stampede have dropped four straight games for the first time this season.

FRIDAY NIGHT:  The Stampede came out and played a much improved first period from their game on Wednesday night, but weren’t able to score and the game remained scoreless into the second period. The Force were able to grab the first goal of the game at Jordan Seyfert knocked home a pass from William Fallstrom at 13:07. The Force added to their lead with a power play tally at 15:20 when Sammy Steele intercepted a Mikhail Berdin pass and put it quickly into the net for a 2-0 advantage.  

Any chance of a comeback was squashed at 4:12 of the third when Seyfert tallied his second of the night, this time wristing a shot past Berdin for a 3-0 lead. The Stampede were outshot 35-24 on the night and finished 0-for-4 on the power play while the Herd were 1-for-5.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: The Stampede are led by forward Nolan Walker who has tallied 49 points (20g, 29a) in 5 g4ames this season. Adam Dawe leads the team in goals with 23 and is second on the team in scoring with 42 points. In goal, Jaxson Stauber is 8-6-2 with a 3.17 GAA and a .899 save percentage.

Fargo is led by Grant Hebert with 54 points (15g, 39a) in 57 games while Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup has 26 goals in 40 games. In goal, Ryan Bischel is 14-8-4 with a 2.25 GAA and a .918 save percentage.

UP NEXT:  The Stampede open up the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs on Tuesday night at the PREMIER Center when they host the Lincoln Stars in Game 1 of their first round playoff series. It is a best-of-three series, all in Sioux Falls, with Game 2 schedule for Wednesday night and, if necessary, Game 3 on Thursday. The winner will advance and face either Waterloo or Omaha in the Western Conference semifinals. Tickets are on sale now through the KELOLAND Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet.
