Stampede/Stars Series Preview

Series opens Tuesday night at PREMIER Center

The Sioux Falls Stampede will face the Lincoln Stars in the first round of the Clark Cup Playoffs beginning Tuesday at the PREMIER Center. The first round is a best-of-three with all three potential games taking place inside the PREMIER Center. The winner of the series will advance and either play Waterloo or Omaha in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Tickets for Games 1 and 2 are on sale now through the KELOLAND Box Office at the PREMIER Center or any Ticketmaster outlet. Puck drops are 7:05 PM for each night. Season ticket holders can pick up their first round playoff tickets at the Stampede office Monday (8 AM-5 PM), Tuesday (8 AM-4 PM) or at Guest Services prior to Game 1 on Tuesday night. The series schedule is below.

LINCOLN STARS VS SIOUX FALLS STAMPEDE

Game 1: Tuesday, April 17th at 7:05 PM (PREMIER Center)

Game 2: Wednesday, April 18th at 7:05 PM (PREMIER Center)

*Game 3: Thursday, April 19th at 7:05 PM (PREMIER Center)

The Stampede enter the series at the #4 seed with a 32-19-9 record and 73 points while the Stars are the #5 seed with a 35-23-2 and 72 points. Sioux Falls went 1-2-1 against the Stars and 1-1-0 at the PREMIER Center. Both teams featured a balanced scoring attack with four lines that can score goals.

The Stampede stumbled a bit down the stretch, going 0-4-1 in their last five games while the Stars have been one of the hottest teams in the USHL going 16-3-1 in their last 20 games. Sioux Falls went 15-9-6 at home this season while the Stars were 16-12-1 on the road.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Sioux Falls:

  • Nolan Walker (F): The Anchorage, AK native led the Stampede in scoring during the regular season with 50 points (21g, 29a) in 55 games. The St. Cloud State recruit had 11 multi-point nights for the Herd.
  • Adam Dawe (F): Dawe led the Stampede in goals scored during the regular season with 23 in 56 games. The Main recruit had five multi-point goal night’s during the season and chipped in with 19 assists.
  • Colin Swoyer (D): The Hinsdale, IL native is tied with Jack St. Ivany for most points as a defenseman on the team with 36. He has had quite an impressive second year with the squad after tallying 13 points in 54 games last season and skated in all 60 games in 2017-18.
  • Jack St. Ivany (D): The Yale recruit also has 36 points on the year after posting 10 points last season. He skated with Team USA at the World Jr. A Challenge and also played in his second straight USHL/NHL Top Prospects game in January

Lincoln:

  • Casey Dornbach (F): The Edina, MN native led the Stars in scoring with 56 points (21g, 35a) in 59 games. He has 16 multi-point games during the season and is already committed to Harvard University.
  • Josiah Slavin (F): Slavin led the Stars in goals scored with 23 during the regular season. He has four multi-goal games this season and has chipped in a total of 19 assists.
  • Eero Teravainen (D): Teravainen was the top defensive scorer for the Stars during the regular season with 32 points. His 28 helpers are second most on the team with 12 of those coming on the power play.
  • Wyatt Aamodt (D): The third year defenseman is having his season in the USHL with 26 points in 49 games. He played with St. Ivany for two consecutive seasons with Team USA at the World Jr. A Challenge and has already committed to Minnesota State-Mankato.
