Sioux Falls, S.D. -- The Sioux Falls Stampede released their 27-player training camp roster for the upcoming preseason Friday. The roster includes players from 11 states, six countries, five returning players and 17 players committed to collegiate programs.

Returning forwards include Artem Ivanyuzhenkov (AR-tim IVAN-youz-hen-kawf) and Marko Reifenberger (RYE-fhin-ber-ger). Ivanyuzhenkov tallied 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points over 56 games last season. Reifenberger collected six points (1g, 5a) over 33 games since joining the team in a trade with Central Illinois on Dec. 26. He is committed to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
New players upfront include Burnsville, Minn. native Cade Borchardt (BOR-churt), who played last season with the Madison Capitols, tallying 42 points (14g, 28a) over 59 games. Borchardt is committed to Minnesota State University, Mankato. Forward Blake Bride collected 22 goals, 25 assists for 47 points with the Odessa Jackalopes last season. Bride is committed to the Air Force Academy hockey program.
On the blue line the Stampede return Brandon Tabakin (Tab-uh-kin) and Jeppe Urup (YEP-ee Europe). Tabakin played in 42 games, putting up one goal and four assists. He is committed to Yale University. Urup, who joined the Herd during the latter half of last season, played in 15 games and scored three points.
The Herd add veteran defenseman Matt Kessel who was acquired in a trade with Chicago over the summer. 2018 USHL Phase II second-round draft selection Max Crozier joins the team from the BCHL Nanamio Clippers, scoring 29 points (6g, 23a) over 49 games. Sixteen-year-old defenseman Valtteri Piironen tallied three goals and 14 assists for 17 points for Lukko U18 in Rauma, Finland, last season. Piironen is already committed to St. Cloud State University.
Between the pipes the Stampede return goaltender Jaxson Stauber (STAW-buhr). Stauber played in 22 games with a 3.09 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. The team adds junior veteran Chad Veltri from Fox Chapel, Penn. The 6-foot, 170-pound goaltender posted a 2.30 goals against average and .930 save percentage with the Corpus Christi IceRays last season.
"We had a relatively high turnover of players from our last year's team, but I'm pleased with the additions we've been able to make to form our 2018-19 club,” said general manager and head coach Scott Owens. “Five players are back from our Stampede roster last year and we've added four new players with USHL experience. We'll have nine other players with junior experience under their belts."
All players report to Sioux Falls this weekend and begin practice on Wednesday, Sept. 5. The Herd host the Fargo Force in preseason play at the Scheels IcePlex on Saturday, Sept. 22 with puck drop at 7:05 p.m. Season ticket holders receive free entry based on the number of season memberships for the year. Tickets for non-season ticket holders are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
