TONIGHT’S GAME:   The Stampede return to the road tonight and face the Stars at The Ice Box for the second straight Friday night. Last Friday, the Stars scored with 22 seconds remaining in regulation to top the Herd 2-1. After tonight, these two teams will meet two more times this season, both in Sioux Falls.

STAMPEDE UPDATE:  After a heartbreaking 2-1 loss on Friday, the Stampede led 1-0 on Saturday at Tri-City, but ended up falling 4-2 to the Storm who scored three unanswered goals in the third period. The Herd have been outscored 22-10 in the third period this season.  Since starting the season 2-1-0 on the road, the Herd are winless in their last four road games. Sioux Falls has been outscored 13-4 during that time.

Scoring the first goal may not has be as important as early in the season. The Stampede entered last weekend with a 4-0-0 mark when scoring first, but lost both games last weekend when scoring first. Tonight, the Herd will be looking for their first win since October 26th when they topped Sioux City 3-2.

STARS UPDATE: The Stars went 2-1-0 in three games last weekend. After topping the Stampede on Friday, the Stars fell at Sioux City 4-2 on Saturday before blanking Tri-City, 3-0 on home ice on Sunday. The Stars have now collected at least a point in three of their last four games and enter tonight just one point behind the Stampede in the Western Conference.

One of the biggest reasons for the Stars success of late has been the play of goaltender Jake Mucitelli who is 2-1-1 with a 2.24 GAA and a .924 save percentage in his last four games while playing over 241 minutes during that time. The Stars are led offensively by rookie forward Shane Pinto who has 15 points (9g. 6) in 14 games this season.

UP NEXT:  The Stampede will have tomorrow off before returning to the ice Sunday afternoon for a 4:05 PM matchup at Omaha. Fans can catch the game live on KELO News Talk 1320-AM, 105.1-FM, 107.9-FM and starting at 3:40 PM.

The Herd return home to the PREMIER Center next Saturday, November 24th to face the Dubuque Fighting Saints. It is the annual Teddy Bear Toss Night where fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to the game and toss them onto the ice after the Stampede’s first goal. All stuffed animals will be donated to local charitable organizations for the holidays.
