Herd Looks to Halt Surging Black Hawks

TONIGHT’S GAME:  The Sioux Falls Stampede take on the Waterloo Black Hawks for the second matchup this season, both being played in Sioux Falls. The Stampede took the win with a 6-5 overtime decision back on Oct. 19. The Black Hawks are undefeated in their last four contests and are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

STAMPEDE UPDATE:  The Stampede entered the holiday break with a 2-0 defeat in Des Moines on Dec. 18. The team is 6-3-1 in its last 10 matchups and is 5-1-1 in the month of December. The team is led by rookie forward Jami Krannila with 28 points (8g, 20a). Goaltender Jaxson Stauber leads the team with six wins on the season in 14 games played.  

Tonight's lineup will feature newly acquired forward Carl Berglund from Hammaro, Sweden. Berglund and Stampede forward Andre Lee were teammates prior to joining the Herd this season and both are committed to U. Mass. Lowell collegiate hockey program. Defenseman Jeppe Urup is competing with the Denmark U20 National Team at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships in Vancouver, B.C. 

BLACK HAWKS UPDATE: The Waterloo Black Hawks are coming off four consecutive victories, including a 5-3 finish over the Madison Capitols back on Dec. 15. The Black Hawks are led by rookie forward Vladislov Firstov (16g, 15a) and Matej Blumel (14g, 17a) with 31 points each. Goaltenders Logan Stein and Jared Moe have eight wins a piece on the season.

UP NEXT:  The Sioux Falls Stampede finish off 2018 at the PREMIER Center on Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve) for a showdown against the Lincoln Stars. Puck drop is scheduled for a special 6:05 p.m. start time. Fans are encouraged to bring their skates to skate on the ice with the players following the game.
