TONIGHT’S GAME:   The Stampede face the Des Moines Buccaneers for the fifth time this season. These two teams will meet one more time this season, the last game of the regular season on April 13th in Sioux Falls. The Herd are 1-2-1 against the Bucs this season, including a 2-0 loss at Des Moines on December 18th.   

STAMPEDE UPDATE:  The Stampede saw their five-game home winning streak come to an end with a tough 6-4 loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks last night at the PREMIER Center. Trailing 4-0 with seven minutes remaining in the second period, the Herd rallied for three unanswered goals to pull within one at the end of the period. The Hawks grabbed the first goal of the third, but Brian Chambers third goal of the night pulled the Stampede back within a goal at 5-4 at 8:53. The Herd pulled Jaxson Stauber late for an extra attacker, but couldn’t get the tying goal, and the Black Hawks put the game away with an empty net goal with just one second remaining.

Chambers tallied the Stampede’s first hat trick since November 4th, 2016 when Jack Doremus tallied one against Sioux City. The Stampede have now tallied four or more goals in 10 of their last 11 games and currently rank sixth in the league in goals scored, averaged 3.54 goals per-game. The Herd enter tonight tied with Sioux City for fourth place in the Western Conference with a 16-9-3 record and are 9-3-2 on home ice.

BUCS UPDATE: The Buccaneers continued to stay hot with a 6-3 victory over the Dubuque Fighting Saints last night on home ice. Kaden Bohlsen led the way with two goals while James Durham stopped 24 of 27 shots in goal. The Bucs enter tonight just three points behind first place Tri-City and are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. They enter tonight with an 8-4-2 mark on the road.

The Bucs rank fifth in the USHL in goals scored, averaging 3.59 per-game and rank third in goals against, allowing an average of 2.91 goals per-game. Roman Durny blanked the Stampede in between the pipes when these two teams last met and ranks third amongst all USHL goaltenders with a 2.51 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage.  

UP NEXT:  The Stampede continue their six-game homestand next weekend with contests against Omaha and Sioux City. Friday night is Faith Night, presented by Restoration Generation and Saturday is Hockey Day in South Dakota. Puck drops are 7:05 PM each night.
