TONIGHT’S GAME:   The Stampede face the Omaha Lancers for the second time this season. Sioux Falls defeated Omaha 4-3 in a shootout back on November 18th. After tonight, these two teams will square off three more times this season with their next meeting scheduled for Wiener Dog Night on February 23rd.

STAMPEDE UPDATE:  After seeing their five-game home winning streak come to an end on Friday in a 6-4 loss to Waterloo, the Herd bounced back for a big 3-2 victory over the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday night. Ryan Johnson, Max Crozier and Anthony Romano all tallied goals in the win while Alec Calvaruso stopped 23 of 25 shots in between the pipes. The Herd are now 10-3-1 at the PREMIER Center this season and 9-2-1 in their last 12 games overall.

The Stampede power play has been hot of late and has gone from the bottom half of the league to fifth overall in the USHL at 21.4%. The Herd have tallied at least one power play goal in four of their last five games entering tonight. Scoring the first goal of the game has been key for the Herd, they are 11-3-0 when scoring the first goal of the game. Sioux Falls also holds an impressive 10-2-3 record in one-goal games this season.

LANCERS UPDATE: The Lancers are looking to get back on track after dropping a 3-1 decision at Central Illinois on Friday and a 2-1 shootout loss at Dubuque on Saturday. Omaha is winless in their last five games (0-3-2) and are just 2-10-3 in their last 15 games.

Despite their recent struggles, the Lancers have been close in the majority of their games and are led by forward Ryan Savage who has 15 points (7g, 8a) in 29 games. The Lancers recently acquired goaltender Jon Mor who is 4-7-1 on the season with a 3.45 GAA and a .884 save percentage. The Lancers rank towards the bottom of the league in goals scored (2.28 per-game) and goals against (3.72 per-game).

UP NEXT:  The Stampede continue their six-game homestand with Hockey Day South Dakota tomorrow. The fun starts at 12:15 PM when the Sioux Falls Flyers Bantam A facing the Brookings rangers. At 2:15 PM the Flyers boys’ varsity squad hosts Brookings. The day concludes with a 7:05 PM contest between the Stampede and Sioux City.

Fans can purchase tickets for just $12 each and that includes a ticket to both Flyers games and the Stampede game that night. If you already have a ticket for the Stampede game simply show it at the door to get into the Flyers games.

During the game on Saturday fans can take advantage of a hockey themed photo booth in the main concourse as well as a scavenger hunt throughout the PREMIER Center. Bring your skates to the game and skate with the players right after the contest! For non-skating fans, several players will be made available off the ice to sign autographs. Tickets are available through the PREMIER Center.
