It might be the biggest weekend of the year thus far for the Sioux Falls Stampede as they get set to entertain the first place Tri-City Storm both Friday and Saturday night at the PREMIER Center. Puck drop is 7:05 PM each night. Click here to order tickets online now!
The Storm have been in first place all season and enter the weekend with a 35-9-3 record and 73 points in the Western Conference. The Stampede sit at 29-12-4 with 62 points and in third place in the West. The Herd fell at Tri-City 4-2 on November 10th and 7-3 on November 30th.
Since November 30th, the Stampede have gone 21-5-2 to race up the standings and sit just two points back of second place Waterloo with two games in hand entering this weekend. Just 15 games remain in the regular season starting this Friday with the top six teams making the playoffs. The first and second seeds receive first round byes while 3 hosts 6 and 4 hosts 5 in a best-of-three first round matchup.
The biggest reason for the Storm’s success this season has been their defense. They’ve allowed a league low 108, averaging just 2.30 goals against per-game. They also have the top penalty kill in the league, clicking at an amazing 88.7% this season. Isaiah Saville is the top goaltender in the league at 19-3-3 with a 1.90 GAA and a .929 save percentage. He also has four shutouts on the year.
Friday night is presented by BCI Dakota Division. Be sure to stop by the chuck-a-puck table and take part in the BCI Dakota Division Chuck-a-Puck where you could win a $100 Visa gift-card if you make it inside the center-ice BCI can. Closest to the target will receive a $50 Stampede Pro Shop gift card. Proceeds from the chuck-a-puck will benefit Sioux Falls Lutheran School.
Saturday night is Special Olympics Night of South Dakota, presented by Modern Woodmen of America. Fans can take part in a silent auction of sports and entertainment packages including tickets to a Minnesota Wild game, a neon Stampede sign, Stampede bean bag boards, trip to Deadwood and more!
